This week, we’re getting wild in Sunday Supper since the theme is based on songs. It took me days to find the song that I’m familiar with and the recipe to go with it, yes, it’s that hard. Thankfully, I found this website that gave me some ideas and that’s how I remembered the song Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice. Remember that song? I was giggling while reading this ad, and I suddenly remembered my childhood, felt like a total deja vu. Frederick and I really enjoy fresh juice. We used to drink juice daily except in Summer time because I prefer to eat the fruit fresh. And speaking of Summer, I feel that this year’s Summer is much cooler compared to last year’s. Of course, there were still days when the weather was super awful but most of the days I feel fine, or maybe it is because my body had adapted to 90F? Nonetheless, the weather in the city is still unpredictable. One day, we had 50F in the morning but warmer during the evening. It’s really hard every morning to decide which jacket to put on as I don’t know how’s the evening going to be.
I’ve been eyeing these popsicles I saw in the Pinterest for quite a while. I’m sure many of you have noticed these too; so to make it inline with the Summer treats and Sunday Supper’s theme this week, I have decided to make these popsicles. I used Breville juicer and made 3 different kinds of juice – orange juice, strawberry juice and grape juice. I also added calamansi aka lime juice and have put some basil seeds in it. You can grab the basic recipe here. It’s basically a combination of sweet and refreshing summer treats, and also healthy, as no sugar had been used in the recipe.
- Orange juice
- Calamansi or basil seeds lemonade (grab the recipe here: http://theurbanmrs.com/basil-seeds-lemonade/)
- Strawberry juice
- Grape juice
- Pour the orange juice into your container, to about 1/4 thickness, and freeze for 30 mins – 1 hour.
- Add the calamansi or basil seeds lemonade to about 1/2 thickness, and freeze for another 30 mins – 1 hour.
- Place the sticks in the center and pour in the strawberry juice, and freeze for another 30 minutes.
- Add the last juice and allow the popsicles to freeze for 3 hours or overnight.
